Laser Light Therapy

Could Laser Light Therapy  help you with your hair loss?

Every case of hair loss is different, and whilst Laser light therapy can help many people it can’t help everyone. Suitability varies. We offer consultation either in person or by video link to help you decide what the best treatment plan is for you. By completing the form, we can assess whether a one-to-one consultation may be right for you.

Laser light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or red light therapy, is a non-invasive treatment used to help stimulate hair growth in people experiencing hair thinning or hair loss, especially from androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness). Here’s how it works:

How Laser Light Therapy Promotes Hair Regrowth:

  1. Stimulates Cellular Activity (Photobiomodulation):
  • LLLT uses red or near-infrared light (typically in the 630–670 nm wavelength range).
  • This light penetrates the scalp and is absorbed by cells in the hair follicles, particularly the mitochondria.
  • It increases the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), boosting cellular energy and activity in the follicle.
  1. Increases Blood Flow:
  • LLLT helps improve microcirculation in the scalp.
  • Better blood flow means more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to hair follicles, which can help keep them healthy and extend the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle.
  1. Reduces Inflammation:
  • Chronic inflammation is often linked to hair loss.
  • LLLT may reduce inflammation around hair follicles, making the environment more supportive of growth.
  1. Prolongs Hair Follicle Survival:
  • Some studies suggest LLLT can delay follicular miniaturization, a process where follicles shrink and produce thinner hairs over time.

Effectiveness:

  • Most effective in people with mild to moderate hair loss.
  • Works best when used consistently over several months.
  • Devices include laser combs, helmets, and caps, and many are FDA-cleared for home use.

Limitations:

  • Not a cure—results vary by individual.
  • Doesn’t regrow hair in areas that are completely bald.
  • Works better as part of a comprehensive treatment plan (e.g., with minoxidil or finasteride).
